Life as a cadet at 1015 (Horsham) Squadron is full of variety. Alongside weekly parade nights, cadets get the chance to try a wide range of activities that build confidence, teamwork and new skills — on the ground and in the air. Here’s a taste of what’s on offer.
Flying & Gliding
Every cadet gets the chance to take to the skies. From your first Air Experience Flight in a Grob Tutor to gliding in a Grob Viking, and even the chance to work towards flying solo, this is one of the most popular parts of cadet life.

Shooting
Target shooting is a core cadet activity, starting with air rifles on the squadron’s own range and progressing, for those who want it, to the L98A2 rifle used by the armed forces — all run to strict safety standards by qualified instructors.

Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
1015 Squadron runs the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award at Bronze, Silver and Gold, helping cadets build skills, fitness and independence through expeditions, volunteering and personal challenges.

Each year cadets get the chance to visit RAF stations across the UK — and sometimes overseas — for a real taste of life in the Royal Air Force, alongside fieldcraft, sport and adventurous training.
