Flying is one of the most exciting opportunities open to Air Cadets, and it’s central to what we do at 1015 (Horsham) Squadron.

Most cadets start with an Air Experience Flight in a Grob Tutor, giving you the chance to see the world from the cockpit and even take the controls under supervision. From there, cadets can progress to gliding in the Air Cadets’ own fleet of Grob Viking gliders at a Volunteer Gliding Squadron.

Older and more experienced cadets can apply for flying scholarships and other RAF-run courses, with the ultimate goal for some being a first solo flight — a genuine flying qualification gained while still a cadet.

No experience is necessary to get started. You’ll be introduced to flying gradually as part of your training, and squadron staff will help you find out about local flying and gliding opportunities.
