1015 (Horsham) Squadron is a registered Duke of Edinburgh’s Award centre, and the RAF Air Cadets is one of the largest providers of the DofE scheme in the UK.
Cadets can work towards Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards, each combining volunteering, physical activity, learning a new skill, and an expedition — with Gold also requiring a residential section.
Expeditions are planned and supervised by trained squadron staff, and cadets build genuine outdoor skills: navigation, campcraft, teamwork and self-reliance, usually alongside other adventurous training the squadron offers.
Completing a DofE Award looks great on a CV or UCAS application, and many cadets say the expeditions are some of the most memorable parts of their time in the Air Cadets.
